It's the world's first comprehensive climate agreement,
with all countries expected to pitch in.
December 12, 2015: the worlds first global agreement to end the era of fossil fuel is now in place.
The previous emissions treaty, the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, only included rich countries. Canada signed on to Kyoto, but later backed out in 2011. Now, countries will be tasked with preparing, maintaining and publishing their own greenhouse gas reduction targets. This means the actions of every citizen counts, our nation is now culpable for our daily behaviour.
The new agreement sets a goal of limiting global warming to "well below 2 degrees Celsius", above preindustrial levels and "to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius", or 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit, above preindustrial levels through 2100.
The long-term goal of the agreement is to send a strong signal to world capitals and financial markets that fossil fuels like coal and oil are on their way out, and that there needs to be a massive scaling up of investments in clean energy.

At Karma, we work with experts to help us achieve our goal. We follow strict local productions and most of us bike, recycle, walk and eat green leafy diets. What else can we do in our daily lives as individuals and as a corporation to reduce our foot print?
Here are some tips:
- Waste Not, Want Not: simple, if you value your resources and use them as if they are running out, because they are, we would be in a much better position
- Support clean energy sources: buy energy efficient products, again so simple, save your energy expenses all year long by investing in energy efficient lights, appliances, and transportation
- Responsible Consumer: buy ethically, responsibly made goods to ensure you are not supporting senseless waste and irresponsible organizations, read and research before you buy
- Reuse and recycle: keep your purchased goods like new, give them away to less fortunate or friends and family instead of tossing them in a landfill
- Water usage: reduce your water as much as possible, fix leaks, don't let it run
- Meatless Monday reduce the consumption of meat and dairy: this is the worst, The world’s cattle alone consume a quantity of food equal to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion people (more than the entire earth's population), producing just one hamburger uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles,
- Avoid over transport of consumed goods: Eat locally-produced and organic food, buy from local manufacturer's, the value of the increased cost will pay off over time, you will treat your property with greater care and it will last longer.
- Reduce Utility Waste: Insulate and seal your home
- Air Travel: Avoid private jets, hop on regularly scheduled flights and help support research and development for alternative renewable energy for flying
- Transportation: When possible, walk or ride your bike in order to avoid carbon emissions completely. Carpooling and public transportation drastically reduce CO2 emissions by spreading them out over many riders.
Some facts about non-renewable resources:
All fossils fuels are the result of plant and animal decomposition that happened millions of years ago – under water. The most recent discovery of an untapped oil field was discovered in Alaska. The ice is thought to have covered a sea that existed millions of years ago.
A piece of coal is around 440 million years old. All that time ago, it was part of a fern or primitive tree growing in a bog. When it died and was buried, it was eventually compacted into layers of rock.
It is only over the last 80 years or so that our consumption of fossil fuels has grown so incredibly high that reserves that we only began using in the 19th century which have existed for 80 million years are now so depleted that they may not last for another 20 years.
