Working out used to be about looking good for me. And it still is to some extent, but it’s a lot more about how I feel when I do. Even if my weight stays the same, I feel better, stronger, sexier when I work out.
However, I am not someone who will spend hours working out/running. I would rather get in, get out and get on with my day. Over time, I’ve inadvertently developed my own routine that is quick, easy and can be done pretty much anywhere (with stairs). I like to include cardio (which tones my legs too) and work out my arms + abs. Here’s the breakdown in 6 steps:
- Run up and down a set of stairs 10 times
- 20 V-up crunches (these really get your whole body)
- 15 Push ups (I do modified ones on my knees, but do whatever you can!)
- Side plank + touch - 15 to 20 per side
- 10 Tricep dips
- Plank (1 min)
Repeat 3-5 times
I usually alternate between a run/hike with my dog and this circuit a few times a week. I sweat I’ve never had better abs than when I do this!
